The Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison recently re-organized and launched a new professional master’s degree program in Environmental Conservation. I was brought in to help another faculty member develop a seven-week course module on environmental program evaluation. The goal is to give our conservation professionals enough vocabulary and awareness of evaluation to do basic evaluations and be able to work with evaluation specialists. The course is being offered completely online, which was another challenge for curriculum design. Tools used here: program evaluation, experiential education, and training.
Note: we used the incredible resources at www.betterevaluation.org heavily in our curriculum. Long live the Rainbow Framework!
